Megan received the Waikato Emerging Director award in 2019 and as part of the award served as an intern director of St John New Zealand.
Art
The lightness and darkness that pervades all our lives lies at the heart of Megan’s painting. The tussle between the two and the associated moods sees her highlight the themes of wellbeing, balance, melancholy, joy and hope.
Megan came to painting after suffering significant burnout. Over the years she had been creative but the dedicated space gave her the opportunity to develop her voice and to articulate moods.
Her painting has transformed and more people have taken an interest in the bold colour and layered textures. Megan works in oils with palette knife to capture moods through the use of scale and colour to give the painting a strong physical presence for the viewer.
